Experiments in skintone alteration!

Nisha - Fashionista #90 on a repainted old fashionista body.

When the strikingly beautiful #90 Barbie Fashionista 'Rainbow Bright' came out a couple of years ago I just knew I had to have her. The only problem was the body; I can’t stand the lack of articulation on the current range of fashionistas, and there wasn’t a match for her very dark skin tone in the MTM range or easily available in older bodies.

1/6th scale Kitchen Tutorial

A kitchen for Max and Juno has been top of my list for years, but making such a diorama was going to be tricky thanks to all the appliances and accessories. Luckily you know how much I love a challenge, so I took it on with gusto...

This is going to be a loooooong post with lots of photos so consider yourself warned!

Max and Juno's new kitchen

Max and Juno's new kitchen!

I've been wanting to make Max and Juno a kitchen diorama for years, and finally got started on it last year, then had a total breakdown of motivation and gave up on it until a few weeks ago when the inspiration hit once again and I was able to finish it.

A post listing how I made the majority of it will be going up immediately after this one, so check that out if you want to know how I put the main parts together. :)

Anyway, without further ado, I'll let the girls show off their latest room...

Long time no blog!

Even by my own procrastinating standard, this is pretty bad! 😅

In my defence, this last year has been a bit of a nightmare; I ended up suffering with absolutely horrendous sciatica for the best part of a year (chiropractors are miracle workers, that's all I can say!) which really put a dampener on my motivation to do very much of anything really. My PC was also on its way out, so I was doing absolutely everything via my phone, which isn't really ideal for blogging the way I'd like.

On the plus side, my sciatica is now almost completely gone, with just the occasional twinge every now and then, and as of yesterday I am now the proud owner of a shiny new gaming laptop, after years of only ever having a PC, so this is going to really open up a lot of opportunities I think.

Of course, that all said, we're all now trapped in the grip of a worldwide pandemic, which I'm sure isn't how anyone thought the first few months of 2020 were going to go! 😂

Hopefully I'll be able to get back into the swing of things on here now, and I've certainly got a lot to post about - I finished Max and Juno's kitchen diorama, did lots of customising and took lots of shiny photos so fingers crossed I'll be posting more regularly again!

DIY Miniature Salad Tutorial

Miniature salad tutorial - Using plastic bags, vinyl gloves, markers, plastic tubing, hot glue sticks, beads, plastic covered paper clips, a bit of paint and some sellotape.

I've been in the mood for making food recently, and after posting photos of these on Instagram and Facebook, got lots of requests for a tutorial, so here it is!

Royal Highland Show 2019

This is kind of a placeholder post as I haven’t been in the mood to type out my usual show report but at the same time I do t want to skip it this year so I’ll probably come back to it later! XD

Here’s all my photos as usual!

Lake District Julip Live 2019

While my dolls have definitely taken over as my main hobby, I still absolutely love going to Julip shows as they're always great fun and its one of the few times a year I get to hang out with groups of likeminded rubber pony people.

This year, Magda was off at a very inconveniently timed family wedding, so it was just Heather and I making the journey south to the Lake District. We'd booked the same guesthouse we stayed at last year in the seaside town of Morecambe, as it was really nice and very convenient in all respects. For a change we made it down without issue, not getting lost once, and managed to book in early so we had time to wander about Morecambe. Unfortunately our room was right at the very top so lugging multiple boxes of ponies upstairs wasn't exactly fun!

It was a glorious day, cool yet sunny - a far cry from the boiling hot experience of last year!
