Despite being a Highland fan through and through, there's something about the dainty features and sometimes snotty attitude of the Welsh ponies that always makes me smile. This class was no exception!
I recognised this striking palomino stallion instantly. He's so distinctive with those bend orr spots and rabicano!
Anyone fancy sculpting him in this pose? ;) |
I really liked this grey's 'scratchy' dapples.
Another rabicano, this time a really rich bay - the 'coon tail' is really obvious here.
This chestnut roan stallion was getting very overexcited by the mare and foal so close by and he skittered about the place every time he was asked to move away from them.
He behaved himself for the judges...at least most of him did anyway. :P
This bay-going-grey mare was rather interesting as well.
She had a roany stripe...
...a random smudge on her cheek...
....and a really striking mismark on her bum!
By far though, the best thing she brought to the show was this little lump of fuzzy goodness!
The excitable roan from earlier proved just as frisky as before, but the closer he got, the more interesting he became - he had bend orr spots too!
Intriguingly he also appears to have a dorsal stripe, though it could just be countershading or some kind of side effect of all the roaning.
The winner - Waxwing Persuasion
Reserve - Thistledown Breeze
This one had some interesting speckly bits!
Next up...Arabs and Partbreds!
Beautys ALL!
