Portmahomack Holiday - Part 8 - Cliffs, Crafts and Caves!

Our last couple of days went by pretty quickly or so it seemed. We left my aunt and uncle's house, then headed to Rothes to meet up with my mum's cousin Bill and his wife Lynn. Bill had a new dog so we spent a few minutes getting introduced to the very gorgeous Hazel!

Portmahomack Holiday Part 7 - Picts, Seals and Shells

Sorry for all the holiday spam, I usually breeze through them all pretty quickly but my motivation has been somewhat lacking recently! There's only a couple more posts to go though!

Portmahomack Holiday - Part 6 - Birthdays, Picts and Fine Dining!

The last full day of our time in Portmahomack was also my mum's birthday. I don't think the prospect of ending the holiday was the best present she could have asked for though! As she's got herself hopelessly addicted to the antics of Flipper, Neptune, Moby, Coral and Koi - the 'Under the Sea' litter of the Kitten Cuddle Room, I decided to get her a kitten of her own.

Portmahomack Holiday Part 5 - Astrophotography!

One of the things I hate most about living where I do is the light pollution. Even on a dark, clear night, the sky is still tainted by a faint orange glow, and the plethora of streetlights makes shooting the stars difficult.

At Portmahomack however, there were no such issues, and provided I turned my camera away from the handful of lights which lit the lane behind the cottage, I was in almost perfect darkness.

Portmahomack Holiday Part 4! - Pictish Stones, Selkies, Dolphins and Gnomes!

Day 5 was fairly uneventful. We met up with some distant relatives over lunch in Tain and did our best to explore the town before either the rain got too heavy, or, as became pretty apparent early on, everything closed up for the day at 4pm!

I don't think we really saw it at its best due to the weather, but I thought Tain was a little nondescript.

This rather fetching colour scheme was the exception!

2017 Portmahomack Holiday! (Part 1 - Tarbat Ness)

As usual, I'm documenting my holiday up north so feel free to ignore if you don't want to see shiny scenery, seals, stars and of course, cats! It's a big 'un this year so I'll probably be splitting it into multiple posts so it isn't such a chore to read!

If you'd rather just look at the photos and ignore my reminiscent ramblings, the Flickr album can be found -here-.

Holiday in the Highlands - Part 6 - The Journey Home

Sorry, I know this holiday spam has been pretty huge but I took a LOT of photos. XD

As ever, the week seemed to have gone by far too soon and I really wanted to stay longer. Luckily the weather behaved beautifully for us, so our journey back down to Glasgow was a good one.

Holiday in the Highlands - Part 5 - Waterfalls, Ardtoe and Monster Midges!

Part 5

I've got all my dates and photos mixed up a bit so I'm kinda guessing which day I did what, haha. Oh and apologies for the terrible formatting - I always try to centre the photos but instagram apparently doesn't like it. D:

The next day brought with it better weather and for virtually the first time we could actually make out the cliffs of the Small Isles in the distance.

Holiday in the Highlands! Part 1 - Glen Coe

This is going to be a pretty massive story so I'll probably split it into a couple of posts so I don't overdo it on the photo front! I've been meaning to post this for months but it took forever to sort out the photos and then I went on another holiday and took even more, so it wasn't exactly a priority, lol.

Despite having been born and bred in Scotland, I'd never managed to make it over to the picturesque west coast of the Highlands, though it had always been one of my most coveted holiday destinations. This year we decided that our September week's holiday should be spent up north rather than our usual jaunt in Dumfries and Galloway and wow, was it worth it!

(Apologies in advance for all the instagram spam - I took a LOT of pics this time round and most via that, haha! If you'd like to look at the photos without my commentary, they can all be found here!)
