1/6th scale TV and PS4! (tutorial!)

 Hurrah, not another holiday post! XD

I've been meaning to post about this for a few weeks now, so here's my 'kind of a tutorial/kind of shopping list' thing for how to create your own 'working' miniature TV.

An interlude...

I've got lots to post about in the next week or so (some scenic scenery and a sneaky behind the scenes look at the newly relaunched Magpie Model Horses!) but I haven't uploaded all my photos yet so you'll just have to put up with this instead; another brief look into the daily goings on at Max and Juno's place...

I made one of those fancy reclaimed wire spool tables that's all over Pinterest from a cardboard tube, some scrap balsa wood and more of the wood effect wallpaper. The delightfully carved wooden zebra by the stove was a lucky charity shop find by my dad - I've trained him well, he now actively searches for horse shaped objects for me!

As I knew the real flowers I'd used for my Easter photo session wouldn't last, I rummaged through my bag of plastic planty bits and dug out a couple of tiny terracotta plant pots I'd bought at a recent craft fair. The soil is just a chunk of blue foam to pad it out, then covered in a liberal dollop of PVA glue and dried coffee and tea grounds.

The anglepoise lamp on the desk was a £4 bargain from Flying Tiger Copenhagen, and is completely poseable as well as fully operational, which comes in very handy when Juno feels the urge to draw late at night...

DIY Desks and Tableware!

Whilst binge watching Critical Role again last night, it hit me that I still hadn't got round to making Max and Juno a desk or table for their living room. (I still need to remake the sofa, but it'll do for now.)

I wasn't in the mood for any proper woodworking, so I had a rummage and a quick browse of Pinterest for inspiration and hit on the perfect combo. I've been trying to go for a sort of industrial/shabby chic look with the furnishings, and I really liked the look of old reclaimed metal and wood for furniture.

I'd bought this novelty connecting 'pipe' drinking straw set years ago as I thought it had potential, and well, I was right!

 Belated Part 2 is belated, apologies! I've been avoiding the computer as the room it's in is freezing and I've literally only this week managed to get a new computer chair which is actually comfortable!

A hutch full of buns!

Before I begin I must apologise in advance for the incredibly annoying thing Flickr has decided to impose on its users - adding massive white edges to all embedded photos, along with a logo and whatnot. Nobody on Flickr actually likes or wants them there so I hope they'll see sense and get rid soon. It's certainly annoying me already and I've only posted once with them in place!

Anyway, moving onto a more pleasant topic - bunnies! :D

When Julip launched their latest range of adorable latex animals several months ago I knew I'd be needing a few for my own little yard and pre-emptively constructed them a hutch to live in. I hadn't bothered to check how big they actually were so it was a bit of a risk in case I got some and they didn't fit but luckily I'd made it just the right size.

As seen in my previous post, I bought myself four bunnies from the Lake District Live last weekend and I doubt they'll be my last, they're just ridiculously cute.

Teasel was half wild when he was adopted and is still very wary of people.

The other two are perfectly friendly and approachable and are easily the most popular out of the four.

I didn't look at any actual plans for the hutch and simply eyeballed it from photographs of real ones I found online. It's certainly not the most efficient way of making things but I liked the kind of 'rough and ready' look it ended up with.

 

 It's nothing more than stained balsa wood with a roof covered in black felt and some wire mesh I found lurking in one of my scrap drawers. The door has a working hinge made from a metal pin and some thin metal cut from a tea-light holder. The ramp was made later and just leans against the opening, though I added a couple of strips of wood underneath so it hooks over the edge.

 Located right next to the feed shed, I reckon the bunnies get more than their fair share of treats...







They've also made friends with the resident guinea pigs - all made by myself a few years ago from fimo. I'd quite like to make some more to sell as I remember them being quite popular when I sold a few at a live show.



Although the playmobil(?) fencing makes an admirable enclosure for them, I'd quite like to make them a proper run so that may well become a future project...
